# Joining VATSIM Scandinavia

Here's how to join VATSIM Scandinavia, whether as a pilot or as a controller.

# Introduction

<p class="callout warning">Never, under any circumstances, request random transfers to places you do not actually wish to transfer to. This creates unnecessary work for volunteers and there is a 90-day cooldown between all transfers.</p>

This is a simple guide to understanding how VATSIM is structured and how you can be assigned to different Regions, Divisions, and Subdivisions. You should read through this whole chapter before asking for any assistance. Proper points of contact for assistance will be provided on the relevant pages.

VATSIM is divided into Regions, Divisions, and Subdivisions. Not all Divisions have Subdivisions. Subdivisions are usually referred to as vACCs, ARTCCs, or facilities depending on local customs. You should remember that VATSIM has no paid employees, everyone is a volunteer.

- VATSCA or VATSIM Scandinavia is a Subdivision of VATEUD
- VATEUD or VATSIM Europe (except UK) is a Division of VATEMEA
- VATEMEA or VATSIM Europe, Middle East and Africa is a Region of VATSIM

<p class="callout info">vACC membership is only required for pilot and ATC training. All VATSIM members can fly in our airspace and access all our services.</p>

# Current Assignment

Before changing anything you must know the status quo.

1. Go to [https://my.vatsim.net/profile](https://my.vatsim.net/profile)

2. Look at the bottom of the page at the box labeled "Region - Division - Subdivision".

You should now know what Region, Division, and Subdivision you are assigned to.

<p class="callout info">You are always assigned to some Region and Division. Subdivision assignment depends on the Division and is not automatic or required.</p>

Proceed based on your current assignment.

# Region Assignment

1. Go to [https://my.vatsim.net/user/region](https://my.vatsim.net/user/region)
2. Select "Europe, Middle East and Africa" as your new Region.
3. Select "Europe (except UK)" as your new Division.

# Division Assignment

2. Go to Profile - My VATEUD - Transfers
2. Select Scandinavia as your vACC to initiate the Division transfer.

# Subdivision Assignment

2. Go to Profile - My VATEUD - Transfers
3. Select Scandinavia as your vACC.
