Overview

Copenhagen is the busiest airport in Scandinavia and uses A-CDM at peak times. Expect a TOBT, holdings in busy periods, and pushback to release points from almost every stand.

Clearance

Set your TOBT (peak times)

  1. File a flight plan with a realistic EOBT.
  2. Log on well before departure.
  3. Open the CDM page and confirm or set the time you will be ready.
  4. Be ready within ±5 minutes of that time.

IFR clearance

Call Clearance Delivery with your callsign, stand and ATIS letter.

De-icing

Request de-icing together with your clearance. The platform depends on your airline's handler (handler list).

Platform Handler
De-Ice Alpha SAS Ground Handling
De-Ice Bravo Aviator
De-Ice Victor Menzies

Airlines without one of these handlers are most likely with Aviator or Menzies.

Stands and pushback

Stands Use
A, B Schengen only
C Non-Schengen only
D, E, F Schengen or non-Schengen
G120–G137 Cargo
G110, G111 Helicopters
A31–A34 Business jets and GA
G15–G19 GA
Apron West Long-stay GA and business jets
W1 VIP flights

GA is uncommon at Copenhagen. Most GA flights use EKRK Roskilde instead.

All stands need pushback, except F89–F91 and propeller or business jets at A25–A34. Push back to the release point given by ATC. If you cannot reach it, say so when you request pushback.

Taxi

Standard taxi routes exist, but ATC may change them at any time.

Departure

  • Departures normally use the right parallel runway. Runway 12/30 is only used when the crosswind on the parallels exceeds about 15–20 kt.
  • Initial climb: FL070 from 04R and 22R, 4000 ft from 12 and 30.
  • File the SID waypoint only, without the designator (for example "LANGO", not "LANGO2C").
SID Restriction
BETUD Not used on VATSIM
KOPEX Propeller aircraft only
LANGO, NEXEN Jets only
GOLGA Required for flights to EKYT and EKAH
SALLO Use SALLO, not SIMEG, when SALLO is in your flight plan

Arrival

Holdings are used at peak times. Each STAR has its own holding fix:

STAR Holding fix Inbound course Turn Leg
ERNOV ERNOV 179° Left 1 min
MONAK OLPIB 030° Right 1 min
TESPI ROSBI 101° Left 1 min
TIDVU TIDVU 283° Right 1.5 min
TUDLO LUGAS 070° Left 1 min

After handover to approach, follow the RNAV arrival to the vector fix, then fly the published heading until approach turns you in. Keep to all STAR altitude and speed restrictions, or tell approach if you cannot.

You may be given a direct to the handover fix or to the initial ILS fix. The ILS fix is not part of the STAR or the approach, so you may need to enter it by hand.

Approach and landing

  • Expect a vectored ILS. Visual approaches are available on request.
  • CAT III ILS on 04L and 22L only. All other runways are CAT I.
  • RNP approaches are published for all runways. See the AIP charts.
