Simplified CDM Procedures (APP/CTR)

Starting CDM

Only one controller per airport can be CDM master, and only the master calculates TSATs. The master shall be the lowest online position at that airport (DEL > GND > TWR > APP/CTR top-down). All other controllers are slaves by default and do not need to do anything.

If you are the lowest position at an airport, write .cdm master ICAO (e.g. .cdm master BIKF) for each airport you cover.

Entering .cdm master BIKF in EuroScope

Handing over master

When a lower position logs on, or the current master logs off, master must be handed over:

  1. The old master switches to slave by writing .cdm slave
  2. Once there is no master, the new controller takes over by writing .cdm master ICAO

Never have two masters for the same airport. Coordinate the handover before typing the command.

Simplified CDM Procedures (Top-down by APP/CTR)

This part of CDM is known as ATFCM.

Simplified CDM procedures are done from the departure list. Please note that:

  • You are allowed to use expanded CDM procedures if your capacity allows
  • You MUST adhere to the displayed CTOT for take-off
  • You may ignore TSATs for flights without a CTOT if workload is too heavy

Reference Material

Click the TSAT column header. This sorts the departure list by TSAT and makes it easier to manage.

Actions for simplified CDM procedures are the same as for expanded procedures, but with more freedom.

Your departure list now shows a TOBT, a TSAT and a CTOT.

Departure list with TOBT, TSAT and CTOT columns

TOBT shows the off-block time set by the pilot (or controller).

  • TOBT: Light green when valid but not yet within the start-up window.
  • TOBT: Dark green when within the start-up window.
  • TSAT: Light green when valid but not yet within the start-up window.
  • TSAT: Dark green when within the start-up window.
  • TSAT: Yellow when within 1 minute of expiring.
  • TSAT is blank once it has expired.
  • CTOT: Green, Orange or Red depending on the type of restriction causing the CTOT.

Procedures

Aircraft calls for ATC clearance

If a CTOT is present: advise the pilot of the CTOT with the clearance. You MUST then adhere to the TSAT.

If there is no CTOT: no further action is required at this stage.

Aircraft calls for start-up/pushback
  • Set ASRT to mark that the aircraft has requested start-up.

If a CTOT is present:

  • Adhere to the displayed TSAT. If the TSAT is not yet within the start-up window (light green), the pilot must wait.
  • When the TSAT is within the start-up window (dark green, +/- 5 min), start-up can be approved.

If no CTOT is present:

  • Start-up and pushback can be approved regardless of TSAT (simplified procedures only).
  • Be aware that ignoring TSATs may lead to longer waiting times at the runway.
