Simplified CDM Procedures (APP/CTR)

These procedures are for APP and CTR controllers covering an airport top-down. If your workload allows, use the Expanded CDM Procedures instead.

Start CDM for each airport you cover first. See Starting CDM & handing over master.

The two rules

  1. A CTOT must always be followed. A flight with a CTOT must start at its TSAT and take off within CTOT -5/+10.
  2. A flight without a CTOT may be started without waiting for its TSAT if your workload is too high. This may mean longer queues at the runway.

Departure list

Work from the departure list. Click the TSAT header to sort by start-up time.

ColumnColourMeaning
TSATLight greenValid, not yet in the start-up window
TSATDark greenIn the start-up window (TSAT ±5)
TSATYellowAbout to expire (TSAT+5 to +6)
TSATBlankNo TOBT, or the times were cancelled
CTOTGreen / Red / OrangeNetwork slot / flow or capacity slot / manual or event slot

Procedure

Clearance

  1. If the flight has a CTOT, make sure it has a TOBT (ask for one if not, then Edit TOBT). Give the slot and start-up time with the clearance.
  2. If there is no CTOT, no CDM action is needed at clearance.

Start-up

  1. When the pilot calls ready, click ASRT. If they are ready before their TOBT, or have no TOBT, use Ready TOBT.
  2. With a CTOT: approve start-up only when the TSAT is dark green. If it is light green, give the start-up time and ask the pilot to call back.
  3. Without a CTOT: you may approve start-up straight away.
  4. Set the ground status to STUP or PUSH. This records the ASAT.
